Favourite words
- When people are asked about their
favourite words, or words that they regard as the most beautiful, they often cite words containing one or more Ls -- mellifluous, oligopoly, luminous, and so on. L often begins children's words or soothing words, such as lullaby, lollipop, la-la land and, of course, love. L is inherently a melodious, pleasing sound, and because of this it is a good choice for names of brands in the beauty, romance or luxury businesses. Indeed, all four of the brands mentioned above from Interbrand's Top Hundred list are in these sectors -- L'Oreal and Lancome are cosmetic brands and Lexus and Louis Vuitton are both luxury, top of the range brands. Other luxury or female-oriented brands that begin with an L include La Perla, La Prairie, Lanvin, Laurent-Perrier and Longines
